Updates install themselves
MorphGate checks for updates at launch and twice a day. It installs only updates signed with the project’s key and refuses anything else, then restarts with your vault untouched.
Turn automatic checks off under About.
Where your vault lives
| File | What it holds |
|---|---|
vault.sqlite3 | Your encrypted vault. Ciphertext only. |
known_hosts | Host keys you accepted. |
Deleting vault.sqlite3 resets the app and destroys the hosts and keys saved on this machine. Synced copies stay on your other devices.
Build it yourself
You need Rust 1.91 or newer, Node 22 and the Tauri system libraries. On Fedora that’s webkit2gtk4.1-devel, libsoup3-devel and openssl-devel.
$ cd apps/desktop $ npm install $ npm run tauri dev $ cargo test --workspace
